the art of waiting

“Meet me at the Lake House”, he had said. “Here’s the key, I’ll probably won’t be there until the afternoon.” “Okay”, I said. It’s peaceful and beautiful at the lake. At late afternoon, he was still not there.

I decided to read a little, but I couldn’t concentrate. The sun slowly dipped down behind the hills.

When darkness finally fell, I took a hot shower to ease my muscles. I worried a bit. Could someting have happened to him?

I lighted the candles and lay down on the big, comfortable bed. The sheets smelled of summer. Suddenly, the mobile beeped. A text. “Chinese or pizza?” I smiled.
