sleek, and some introspection

After having skipped a whole bunch of Miss Berry’s memes, this one spoke to me, so I’m going to answer as best as I can!

1. Regardless of your current number, how old do you actually feel? – I’m feeling like I’m in my thirties, and that’s a good age to be for a woman. You finally know what you don’t want (much more important than knowing what you want!), you’ve grown (hopefully) to accept yourself and how you look, you’ve found your style (or at least have a good idea about it). You’re more settled in yourself, and this is a good time to find someone who loves you just like you are.
2. Which is worse, failing or never trying? – Definitely never trying! I’ve learned so many things by just trying them out and discovering that I like doing them, my life would be much poorer without them!
3. If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently? – I would try to love more, to sing more, be a bit more adventurous and travel more.
4. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things? – For me, it’s all about doing things right – which by no means is about what others think is right or good, but about what I think how it should be. I’m a freakin’ perfectionist, which is sometimes nice, but more often a chore. Lately I’m trying to be contented with about what I perceive as 80% perfection, because I’ve read somewhere that’s a good measure! Can’t say yet if I’ll succeed…. 😀
5. Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton? – As I’m constantly worrying about one thing or another (perfectionist, remember?) anyway, I’d say worried genius.
6. Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend? – I have to admit that I’m extremely self-sufficient, and my friends and partner have to be tolerant about me needing a lot of time for myself, and my forgetfulness, and me not often calling or in case of SL, never IM’ing…. I guess I’m a difficult person to be friends with! On the other hand, my RL bestie and I have been friends now for over 30 years, and we know we care about each other even if we only talk once a month!
7. Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset?  – Yes, I remember, and it still matters.
8. At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive? – My hobbies include singing and acting, and though I haven’t been on stage much, that always were times when I felt extremely alive!
9. If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job? – Yes I would, buy a nice house with a garden, give a home to another dog and then I’d go and try to learn all the things I always wanted to learn (with the luxury of private teachers!)
10. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today? – I’d try to get all my loved ones to one place and spent the day with all of them!
11. What do you feel is the difference between being alive and truly living? – Being alive is merely about going through the motions, truly living is about savouring the moment, sharing, compassion, spending times with the people you love and learning and doing things you love.
12. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake? – Because making mistakes often hurts, and often not only oneself but others, too. I’m not afraid of standing by my mistakes, though. And sometimes, what looked like a mistake at first was a blessing in disguise…
13. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you? – I would try to not be so damned polite and considerate all the time. Unfortunately I tend to very often bite my tongue, even when things matter to me. It would be much more healthy if I just would tell people exactly what I think from time to time!
14. If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be? – Just live, go your own way and don’t care too much about what others think or say about your more crazy ideas!
